Maha Durga Yagya/Durga Anushthan is for appeasing Goddess Durga, the mother of mankind and the supreme power of the universe. By performing this Yagya with devotion, one achieves the grace and motherly affection of Maa Durga. Maa Durga is also called ‘Shakti’ i.e. the energy behind everything in this universe. She is a multi-dimensional deity with many Avatars. She bestows upon her worshiper strength, valor, victory over evil, and protection from harm. She protects her devotees from evil energies. It is also believed that Goddess Durga was created by Lord Vishnu as a warrior goddess to fight the demon, Mahishasura, to protect the good people (devas). Her divine power includes the combined energies of all the gods in the form of weapons and symbols.
